My review of Omnipresent explores the pros and cons of this platform and looks at what users have to say.

Simply put, it wants to create a system where employees worldwide can work together as if they were all in the same place. It offers extensive employee infrastructure that spans payroll, benefits management, hiring networks, compliance, and more.

Omnipresent Employer of Record Services

History of Omnipresent

In 2019, Matthew Wilson and Guenther Eisinger set out to simplify the challenge of managing a globalized workforce. Having both worked in numerous international corporations, they had ample experience managing remote teams that were distributed thousands of miles apart around the globe.

From these early experiences, they were inspired to create a platform that could streamline these connections, allowing businesses to find the best talent for a role, no matter what country they were in. Beyond the large-scale administrative tasks involved in global hiring, the Co-Founders set out to provide a streamlined legal and compliance framework that would empower businesses to hire without the common frustrations.

Launching months before the world entered into global pandemic and skyrocketed the utility of their platform, it’s unsurprising that they rapidly found success. In 2020, they raised $2 million in seed funding in six weeks. This initial funding allowed them to scale to provide hiring solutions in 150 countries and expand their own team by 10x.

Since then, Omnipresent has raised a further $14.5 million in Series A funding and $120 million in Series B funding, propoelling them to continue expanding to new territories and moving toward their global mission.

Omnipresent Key Features

As a system that enables remote collaboration across the world, Omnipresent aims to break down barriers to international hiring. It provides businesses with all the tools they will need to take their workforce global and hire without worrying about where an employee is based.

Omnipresent supports the following deployments, each of which allows businesses to handle a different area of remote team construction, management, and compliance abidance:

  • Employer of Record
  • Professional Employer Organization
  • Virtual Employer Organization
  • Contractors

Let’s break down these core features.

1. Omnipresent’s Employer of Record (EOR)

Omnipresent’s EOR solution allows businesses to effectively hire internationally, manage global payroll processing, international relocations, and remote employee experiences. Across compliance, taxes, and benefits management, this EOR platform streamlines the process of hiring and managing your international workers.

The EOR segment of Omnipresent connects businesses with experts in local labor laws, allowing them to select top talent and hire in minutes while the platform does the heavy compliance lifting.

Beyond just hiring, this platform offers full payroll automation, paying out employees regularly and in their local currency. Omnipresent aims to cover everything that a business could need when hiring abroad, including:

  • Full Employment Lifecycle Management
Omnipresent solves every complexity of international hiring by streamlining hiring, onboarding, employee pay, benefits, and offboarding.
  • Leave Management
A singular platform where you can track, manage, and monitor employee vacations.
  • Expenses
International coverage for expenses, billing, and accounting sheets.
  • Performance Plans and Disciplinary Management
Distance from your employees doesn’t mean a lack of control. Omnipresent extends to all aspects of employee management, including adjustment and even termination.
  • Legal Compliance
Omnipresent helps your business navigate global employment in over 160 countries, offering full regulatory compliance and legal coverage for local hiring under labor law contractors. They also offer expert legal advice and even tax advisor partnerships if you need additional support throughout the process.

Perhaps the most extensive aspect of their EOR solution is Omnipresent’s active management of global benefits and healthcare. Businesses can manage the full spectrum of potential legal benefit obligations, including family leave, medical insurance, retirement plans, healthcare, PTO, and even more modern benefits like wellness awards or education grants.

2. Omnipresent Professional Employer Organization (PEO)

Global PEO services act as a way for businesses to outsource particular HR tasks that having an international workforce may incur. For example, while your HR team might be experts in benefits management in your home country, they may have very little idea of how to manage benefits in a country they’ve never worked in.

Instead of stacking the deck against your HR staff and requiring them to learn new regulatory frameworks, you can instead use Omnipresent’s PEO solution. This segment of the platform offers real-time support for employee management, outsourcing any tasks like health insurance management or retirement planning to Omnipresent’s team of experts.

3. Omnipresent Virtual Employer Organization (VEO)

One of the most challenging aspects of hiring in other political states is that many require a busniess to set up an entity in the country before being able to contract people. A virtual employer organization solves this problem, converting your business into a Non-Resident Foreign Employer and giving you the ability to hire internationally.

VEO strategies allow businesses to overcome tax compliance costs and uphold local laws without turning to an EOR solution. VEO gives more power over onboarding and offboarding as your company is directly in contact with your talent during these processes. This differs from EOR, where Omnipresent would act as an in-between that you leverage to hire new employees.

The VEO pathway with Omnipresent takes anywhere between 3-6 weeks to set up, depending on how extensive the local regulations are.

4. Omnipresent Contractors

As an extension of Omnipresent’s EOR solution, they offer a contractor management plan. With this additional segment, companies can hire, manage, and pay temporary contractors with ease. Omnipresent offers compliant contractors, seamless admin, and an all-in-one platform where you can see incoming invoices and payments.

Within seconds, you can add new contractors, send them a verified contract, and request invoices. As everyone comes from one digitized platform, Omnipresent makes the process of managing contractors as low-effort as possible, with many of the most tedious parts being automated.

Omnipresent Reviews

The average scores (as of the time of writing) were:

Across the various HR platforms that cover global hiring, Omnipresent does seem to have above-average reviews. On the majority of sites, it boasts a score of between 4.7-5.0 out of 5.0. Additionally, the negative reviews are fairly consistent in terms of the problems they highlight.

The main common thread that surfaces in user reviews is that while onboarding support is outstanding, this level of help instantly evaporates as you continue with the platform. If you need to chase up a lost payslip, modify a process, or get in contact with a support agent, users cite having to wait weeks for a response.

While it seems that Omnipresent is well aware of these issues, having responded to a number of these comments with apologies, it seems there is little movement toward actually fixing the issue. For businesses that expect a more complicated ongoing global payment system, the lack of support from Omnipresent may be a deal-breaker.

However, on the whole, Omnipresent has consistently positive reviews across all of the major review sites – consistently coming in with around a 4.5 or above out of 5. Equally, it’s transparent pricing is a major benefit for the majority of customers.

Omnipresent Pros and Cons

Simple Interface

For both employers and employees, the Omnipresent platform is easy to understand and navigate. All features are clearly sign-posted, making this platform a breeze to use, interact with, and produce a desirable result. The user interface and experience are well-tested and refined, providing a smooth experience for customers.

Streamlined Onboarding

The initial period of contact, transfer, and setting up the Omnipresent system is optimized for new customers. Omnipresent assigns each business with one or several onboarding managers who see them through the process, with these partners often going above and beyond to deliver a flawless onboarding experience. Whether transferring from another EOR tool or starting from scratch, Omnipresent makes onboarding as easy as possible.

With its strong global mobility support, it can support your company through work visa processes in virtually any location.

Transparent New Market Expansion Information

Omnipresent does everything possible to simplify the process of hiring in new markets. For each country it offers services in, it creates a comprehensive fact page of everything that your business needs to know about hiring and payment obligations. These files include termination clauses, severance pay, annual leave entitlement, parental leave, sick leave, holidays, and more. Equally, you can use the OmniCalculator to break down how much an employee will cost in a certain country

Payslip Issues

For a global payroll system, many reviews point to how basic the payslips that Omnipresent provides. Payslips will detail the salary and “other,” without breaking down expenses or factors impacting pay throughout a month. It also does not include currency conversions on the system, which can cause problems when it comes to tracking the real cost of expenses throughout a month.

Slow Support Responses

The vast majority of negative reviews – or even partially positive reviews – cite Omnipresent’s slow response to support tickets as a major disadvantage. While the platform has invested in expanding its teams over recent years, it clearly still has an ironic need to hire more staff to help fix this problem.

Employee-Side Issues

Recent reviews on sites like TrustPilot have highlighted inconsistencies in the payment schedules that Omnipresent champions. Holiday payments, pensions, and contractor payslips are sometimes poorly managed. Combined with slow support responses, these errors can create major payment problems for employees.

Third-Party Support

As with many of the smaller global hiring and management workforce platforms, Omnipresent uses third-party vendors to navigate local contracts in certain countries. With that in mind, if you are focusing your hiring efforts in one of the countries that they don’t directly support, you could receive a quality of service that doesn’t reflect Omnipresent’s standards. This problem will resolve over time as they expand, but for now it could pose a major problem for companies that want to take advantage of the globality of their 160+ country solution.

Conclusion

For users who haven’t come across EOR solutions that use a similar format before, the various offerings that Omnipresent holds can seem confusing. We recommend using their Global Hiring Navigator flowchart system, which will lead you to the best Omnipresent product for you, depending on your unique hiring and entity needs.

On the whole, Omnipresent is a comprehensive platform that does the central features of a global hiring solution very well. Especially useful is its extra support for global company set up and work visa services. On this basis, one of our reviewers judged Omnipresent the best EOR for visa support
