Contractor of Record (also called Agent of Record) is a service where we legally hire contractors on your behalf. We assume full liability for worker classification, ensuring you're protected from misclassification risks while maintaining the flexibility of contractor relationships.

With regular contractor management, you sign contracts directly with contractors—you bear the classification risk. With COR, we become the legal hiring entity and take on all liability. If a misclassification claim arises, we handle it—not you.

Misclassifying employees as contractors can result in back taxes, penalties, benefits owed, and legal fees—potentially costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Different countries have different definitions, making international contractor relationships particularly risky.

We use a worker classification questionnaire reviewed by local legal experts. We assess the relationship based on location, job description, work setup, and control factors. If the relationship doesn't qualify for COR, we'll recommend our EOR service instead.

Contractors can be onboarded in as little as 48 hours once your Master Service Agreement is in place. We handle contract creation, compliance verification, and payment setup—your contractor can start working almost immediately.

Yes. We can facilitate optional benefits packages for contractors, including health insurance and other perks. Note that stock options are not available for COR contractors—if equity is important, consider our EOR service instead.

For fixed-rate contracts, we require a one-month security deposit (contractor wages plus management fee). Since we're legally obligated to pay the contractor even if you don't pay us, this protects both parties. Pay-as-you-go contracts don't require deposits.
