Introduction to TriNet Pricing: A Comprehensive Guide
Published on
If you have employees in different states across the US or even around the world, you might want to consider working with TriNet. This service provider is headquartered in California and has been working in the areas of employee benefits and compliance since its founding in 1988.
It now works in payroll and other HR services, providing its offerings to over 20,000 clients and companies through its online cloud-based HR platform. Unfortunately, however, this provider isn’t very open about its pricing, which means we’ve had to do some digging to find out how much it costs.
In this review, we’ll look at what it offers, reveal TriNet pricing for 2025, and help you make an informed decision about whether or not to engage this provider.
TriNet Pricing Overview
TriNet advertises its pricing as clear, transparent, and detailed down to the line item. While this may be true when it gives estimates, it doesn’t help potential clients who are looking for pricing information without having to contact sales and ask for tailored quotes.
TriNet doesn’t post any of its prices online, but with some work, we’ve been able to uncover the following fees:
| TriNet Service | Monthly Cost |
|---|---|
| TriNet HR Platform Use | FREE with other services |
| PEO Service | $100–150 PEPM |
| Payroll Tax Compliance Manager Service | Starting from $35 PEPM |
| Payroll Manager Service | Starting from $50 PEPM |
| HR Manager Service | Starting from $65 PEPM |
| Contractor Management | Starting from $6 per contractor/month |
| EOR Service | Starting from $400 PEPM |
| Recruiting Tools | Starting at $35/month |
TriNet provides its service fees by individual quote only so for accurate pricing for your situation, you’ll need to contact the company directly.

TriNet’s Main Services
TriNet has been around for nearly 40 years and in that time has expanded its operations and service offerings largely by acquiring smaller PEO, outsourcing, and consulting firms, most notably the benefits provider Zenefits. TriNet is now an IRS-certified and ESAC-accredited PEO (Professional Employment Organization).
It takes on full HR outsourcing for its clients’ employees including their payroll, benefits administration, tax payments, and leave management. TriNet also offers other HR outsourcing services like payroll, tax compliance, and professional consulting and support. Most of its fees are charged on a straightforward per-employee per month (PEPM) basis.
These are the main services offered by TriNet in the US and abroad:
- HR platform use: multi-featured platform for employee HR management
- PEO service: charged PEPM
- HR outsourcing: charged PEPM
- Contractor management: charged per person per month
- EOR: Employer of Record services provided by partners, charged PEPM
- Recruiting: tools for sourcing talent provided by partner, charged monthly
TriNet’s Main Service Plans Explained
We’ve been able to locate most of TriNet’s starting prices for you, but it’s also important to understand just which services these prices represent. This provider has a small range of services, which we’ll explain in greater detail here:
TriNet HR Platform
In the past, TriNet used to mimic many of its competitors and charge a service fee for using its online HR management platform. It previously offered three different tiers of self-service use depending on the features and modules clients required.
Currently, that pricing structure has changed, and the platform is free to use when clients sign up for other service packages. This platform features multiple tools and modules that become available with different tiers of service. They include employee data storage, document management, learning and development management, workforce analytics, compensation benchmarking, payroll, benefits administration, recruiting, and employee engagement modules among others.
- Keeps all employee data and documents in a central location
- Includes a mobile app for employee self-service activities
- Includes analytics and reporting functions
- Integrates with 35 accounting, finance, HR, productivity, and benefits applications
PEO Service
One of the two main service offerings coming from TriNet is as a PEO or Professional Employment Organization. This means it acts as a co-employer with your organization, helping to manage all HR concerns for your employees.
TriNet charges between $100-150 per month to manage each employee you have in different states. With a PEO package, TriNEt manages payroll, benefits administration, risk mitigation, and compliance for your organization. You also receive access to the HR platform to help manage your employees and support from HR experts.
- Your employees’ salaries, taxes, and benefits contributions are automatically calculated and paid by TriNet
- TriNet manages your worker’s compensation and other mandatory state insurance contributions
- Benefits administration includes mandatory benefits like Medicare and Social Security, plus supplementary benefits including retirement savings and health, dental, life, and disability insurance
HR Plus Outsourcing
HR Plus is TriNet’s administrative services solution for small and medium businesses (SMBs). It offers a combination of advice and consultations from tax, legal, and HR experts and access to the extensive TriNet HR platform. Learning management, performance management, audits, payroll, benefits administration, and flex spending administration are all rolled into HR Plus service packages on all three of these available tiers:
- Payroll Tax Compliance Manager: This tier provides expert support for setting up payroll tax accounts and includes payroll tax compliance reviews for $35 PEPM.
- Payroll Manager: This service tier includes help from a dedicated payroll manager. You receive payroll run reviews, payroll reports, and help setting up your general ledger, all for $50 PEPM.
- HR Manager: The top tier of service costing $65 PEPM also includes support from a dedicated HR professional. You receive support for onboarding and offboarding employees, reviews of your employee handbook and best practices, and compliance guidance.
Contractor Management
TriNet provides tools to support independent contractor hiring across the US. This affordable service helps you hire, onboard, and manage invoices for contractors with multiple payment options for fees starting at $6/contractor per month.
- Contractors can use self-service onboarding to get themselves entered into the system and save their important documents
- You gain useful direction and advice on proper contractor classification
- Contractors get access to their tax documents, including 1099 forms
Employer of Record
TriNet offers Employer of Record services in over 180 countries through its partners, Oyster, Multiplier, and Globalization partners. These partners let you hire employees around the world by taking on the role of legal employer in countries where you don’t own entities. They also manage all HR and tax concerns for your international employees.
- EOR entities handle compliance with local laws in each country where you hire
- TriNet’s platform integrates with its EOR provider partners to allow you to manage all of your employees in a single location
- TriNet handles payroll, taxes, and mandatory benefits administration
Recruiting
TriNet doesn’t offer active recruiting services, nor does it have recruiting tools directly built into its HR platform. However, if you need help with your recruitment function, you can gain access to an ATS (applicant tracking system) through its partner, JazzHR.
- You’re able to collect contacts and manage their data and documents like resumes and application forms
- You can create job advertisements and post them through multiple channels simultaneously
- Your new hires receive support for contract signing, benefits elections, and self-service onboarding
Choosing a TriNet Plan That Works for You
TriNet is primarily a PEO and HR support provider that works in all US states and helps with hiring abroad as well. It offers a number of service packages but only gives its prices through quotes that are tailored to the sizes and particular needs of its client businesses. It works mostly with SMBs and charges higher-than-average prices while offering dedicated service packages to clients who need extra support.
To choose the right plan for your organization, look at TriNet pricing in 2025 and select the plan that meets your needs the best or negotiate a customized plan with the tools and services that you require.

No, TriNet manages payroll for its clients but only as a part of its PEO and EOR service packages. It also helps you manage payroll through its HR Plus support plans.
TriNet works with companies across all industries. While it can offer service packages to businesses of any size, it’s focused on SMBs with fewer than 200 employees. Larger businesses may find TriNet’s fees expensive and less cost-effective than handling all HR functions in-house.
No, PEO services are only available in the US. In other countries, you can use the provider’s EOR services if you don’t own entities globally. This is similar to PEO service, except the EOR hires your employees directly, becomes the legal employer of your local staff, and manages all of their HR needs.
